The one dude on Crossfire (the republican guy in the red vest) said how sympathetic and good Rumsfeld is. He goes to meetings with the soldiers.
He was the exact opposite of whatever the liberal on the left said. I don't know how they get anywhere on that show. They all say the opposite.
Rumsfeld used a machine to sign letters to war widows

The best thing about Tucker Carlson is that, with luck, he will be forever remembered as Jon Stewart's Bitch.

that went out the window when it was pointed out that the World War Two counterpart for Rumsfield who could have used the same sort of stamp or machine signature signing equipment, either personally signed them as secretary of War, or had his chief aide Josephine or sent them up the FDR to sign, (like dealing with the massive deaths surrounding 5 June, 44 )

Just because he was in the military does make his deeds any better...how? If all, it only makes it worse.Axis Kast wrote:First of all, Rumsfeld was in the military. That's a fact too often swept under the rug by people here, and while I won't defend his decisions, the guy isn't exactly as much of a hypocrite as people like to imagine.I feel hurt...
At least I know I still have something resembling human decency and ethic in myself.
A pity you don't.
And for not defending him, you produce an awful lot of air...
And it's a sad fact of life that he helped sending these young people to their deaths.Secondly, in the Army, your boss doesn't stop being your boss just because he's a mean-spirited idiot. Sad fact of life. You can wax moralistic about how you wish we'd go and change the system - but it won't help you one whit.
It has nothing to do with "the system", or a "sad fact of life", but everything about morality and integrity.
Why should I trust someone who obviously can't be bothered to care about those people he sends to death?
For a saviour of the poor Iraqi people, Rumsfeld shows disturbing low levels of compassion. He should at least try to imitate a human being...Define "moral capacity to lead." Me, I'd be satisfied with a guy who actually tried to remedy the problems at hand - at least demonstrably. It is a worthwile conversation to debate the moral capacity to lead. Someone like Rumsfeld who has the pretense of doing so has to at least live up to some standards of morality.
