First they came for Mighty Mouse, saying he snorted cocaine. But I said "It's flower pollen, you fucking morons!" and did nothing but laugh.

Then they came for Shaggy and Scoobie, but I hated that cartoon and said the fundies and wowsers could have Shaggy and Scoobie.

Then they came for Jar Jar Binks. I said "But Jar Jar doesn't dress well enough to be a gay brutha!" and did nothing but laugh.

Now they have come for Spongebob, and I was so used to laughing at their stupidity that I forgot it was one of the few things that can get my six-year-old nephew to sit still for 30 minutes and is now being called immoral by imbeciles. And I got pissed that he might hear in kindergarten from the children of wowsers that something he enjoys is somehow "gay". I shouldn't have to explain to a six-year-old that there's nothing wrong with being gay.

Several years ago, Garry Wills exposed James Dobson as a lying shyster. Back in the 2000 primaries, John McCain was being his usual two-faced self by slamming Pat Robertson, but brownnosing James Dobson.

The video in question is slated to be distributed to 61,000 public and private elementary schools throughout the United States. Where it is shown, schoolchildren will be left with the impression that their teachers are offering their endorsement of the values and agenda associated with the video's sponsor. While some of the goals associated with this organization are noble in nature, their inclusion of the reference to "sexual identity" within their "tolerance pledge" is not only unnecessary, but it crosses a moral line.

We believe that it is the privilege of parents to decide how, when and where it is appropriate to introduce their children to these types of sensitive issues. The distribution of this video trumps the authority of mothers and fathers and leaves it in the hands of strangers whose standards may very well be different than the children they teach.

By calling it to light this video and its affiliation with this larger organization, we are attempting to do for parents what their busy lives often prevent them from doing themselves--connecting the dots.

I just realized today that I'd be dying to hear someone claim or agree that 'if everybody's a first-class citizen, then nobody is.' I should trick someone into saying that with a reductio ad absurtum if I get the chance.
