People died in wars, I know that.
Are you a moron? What part of "World War III" do you confuse with your general "wars" bullshit?
Does that mean people who support the invasion of Iraq are asshole because people died in the invasion?
Actually it does. Iraq is falling apart and drowning in violence unseen in Saddam era.
Are you telling me that liberating Europe from nazi's control is a bad thing because millions of people died in the war?
Most of the people in WWII died from Nazi hands, not the other way round. So the point is different here.

A massive land war in China would turn into a one-side nuclear slaughter, since UN forces would not be able to confront a mass-militarized population reserve of China, as well as possible (99%) Soviet involvement.
I was wishing for a more intact ROC.
Ignoring the massive consequences for the entire world to have anything like that. If at all.
And stupid things like the Cultural Revolution would not make such a impact if more cities are under the ROC control.
Of course! It would be better for millions of Chinese die from American military inference, with assured nuclear bombing, then harbor a neverending hatred for America for the next 50 years.

Also, do you realize what political message would an agression against China send?

World War III would be nigh inevitable, and your dream of a more peaceful China might just go up in neverending war and nuclear blasts. Sorry.
Is there any possibility of the ROC being able hold the ground in mainland china during the civil war?
Not much. As people already said, the KMT were a bunch of corrupt, incompetent buffoons. People massively supported Mao, not Chiang. With all the aid poured into KMT, it just didn't work out. There was a thread about that recently, and I think everyone agreed that support for KMT was so low that it didn't really matter how much aid the US would give them.

A foreign intervention would cause an even bigger outrage from native Chinese population, who then will proceed to kill American occupiers in a massive national liberation war.

Nitpick: Perhaps Hong Kong would remain under British control?

Perhaps it would be better if Hong Kong was to remain independent. Not that I would like it...given that Hong Kong was seceded to UK because of pressure...

And Stas Bush, I see your point. At least you are targeting my arguments more reasonably as compared to Einhander Sn0m4n.

ray, the KMT lost China due to a series of fuckups. There are a lot of diverting points to choose for your alt-history scenario such as the Xi'an Incident, or the US intervention post WWII.

That is ideal, if you read my prior posts. But in 1949, the British were still heavily invested in Hong Kong.

Oh please. By your logic, does that mean all the alternate history and RAR! Threads are stupid? I'm a asshole because I asked something? And dreaming of this idea makes me a moron? Just asking
The difference that all the RAR! threads are strictly hypothetical, while you, on the other hand, are actually advocating WWIII. It's the same distinction as between Stuart writing TBO, and Shep actually proposing nuking the MidEast.

Have a very nice day.
