Well, yes. Maybe I'm too much of a softy, but I wouldn't wish them into poverty or anything like that. Bankruptcy sounds good.

As pleasing as it is to think of Phelps being gunned down by some pissed-off ex-soldier or right-wing nutjob, if it were going to happen then it would have happened already. This asshole is going to die in bed, surrounded by his brainwashed acolytes ... er, I mean "loving family".

I have no doubt that was the case before they started picketing soldiers funerals.

I mean they used to picket the funerals of AIDS victims and prominent homosexuals, but now they are disrupting the funerals of real Americans!

It's great how the government comes down on people like Howard Stern (or used to) all too frequently for saying things like "lesbian sex" or "penis love," but suddenly they're powerless against these shitbags. The government seems to forget that any asshole can turn the damn radio station to another channel if they don't like someone like Stern, but one can't avoid these cousin-marrying Phelps at a funeral. Bleh.

So they think deaths in the Iraq war are Righteous Judgement? Then why aren't we suffering more atrocious defeats? Something like what Hannibal could have pulled off on a good day? If the best God can do is pick off the odd soldier here and there, it's really nothing to be afraid of. They aren't even grovelling before a diety with some power.

I think the right still has a use for them. I've seen a couple of right wing sources use Phelps and co. to say "See, dissent is inherently unpatriotic!" Because obviously picketing funerals of fallen soldiers is the same as protesting a war that's killed and injured many thousands for no good cause.

To add an aside to the military biker group thing, a few months a ago down in Eglin, the annual EOD Memorial was held. We got word these asshats were planning to show up- so did the EOD biker group. The whole group showed up, Phelps' people didn't.
