Since they're so fucking sure that only SOME people can be saved, why do they give a shit anyway? Less competition for them, no?

You have to realize that most Christian "moral values" behaviour is not really about "protecting" anyone; it's about their desire to send a continual stream of messages of condemnation towards people whose existence offends them. - Darth Wong alias Mike Wong

Because their own odds of being 'saved' are enhanced by relentlessly nosing into other people's business...?Justforfun000 wrote:Since they're so fucking sure that only SOME people can be saved, why do they give a shit anyway? Less competition for them, no?

Don't Mormons also have a similar creed? I could be getting them mixed up. It's hard to keep track of these denominations sometimes...I thought that was Jehovah's Witnesses?

Basically, Mormon afterlife works as follows:
When you die, until the Last Judgement, you end up either in Paradise or Spirit Prison. Once the Last Judgement happens, everybody gets sorted into three categories:
1)Bad people end up in the Telestial Kingdom, which is still supposed to be paradise compared to Earth;
2)Good people who didn't accept Mormonism either in life or while in Spirit Prison end up in the Terrestial Kingdom, which is supposed to be a magnitude better than the Telestial Kingdom. Also, you get to chill with Jesus on this level, but not God himself;
3)Good Mormons end up in the Celestial Kingdom, which is still better than the Terrestrial Kingdom. Also, if you married in a Mormon Temple while being a Good Mormon, you get to go to the top, become a God, make planets, then populate them with your countless wives in the afterlife.
From what I've read, only Satan and the rebellious angels end up in "Outer Darkness", although I've heard some people say that really bad people like Stalin and Hitler might end up there as well.

This sounds like an outline for a video game.Guardsman Bass wrote:Basically, Mormon afterlife works as follows:

And people that have had God come down and sit down to dinner but later reject the church...Guardsman Bass wrote:From what I've read, only Satan and the rebellious angels end up in "Outer Darkness", although I've heard some people say that really bad people like Stalin and Hitler might end up there as well.

No, just constant pregnancy and birth, and servitude to the Man-God for all eternity.
A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. Leonard Nimoy.
Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.- Malcolm Reynolds, Captain of Serenity, which sums up my feelings regarding the lawsuit discussed here.
