Weather Channel founder calls global warming "a total scam"
John Coleman, a meteorologist who in the 1980s founded The Weather Channel, a station devoted to forecasts and climate news, posted a blog item this week in which he insisted global warming is "a non-event" and "a total scam."
According to a report on an NBC website, he was also critical of major news networks and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, calling them "well informed, but very gullible."
According to the NBC report, Mr. Coleman said his opinion was formed after reading dozens of scientific papers.
"I have talked with numerous scientists. I have studied. I have thought about it. I know I am correct," Coleman reportedly wrote. "The impact of humans on climate is not catastrophic. Our planet is not in peril."
The Weather Channel declined to comment.

I'm glad he has read "dozens" of papers and knows he is "correct."
On Feb. 2, 2007, the United Nations scientific panel studying climate change declared that the evidence of a warming trend is "unequivocal," and that human activity has "very likely" been the driving force in that change over the last 50 years. The last report by the group, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, in 2001, had found that humanity had "likely" played a role.
I'm convinced!
By the way, this is what The Weather Channel says about it:

We have received several media inquiries regarding a recent statement by John Coleman. While we do not plan to comment on his statement, we would like share the following information.
John Coleman was a founder of The Weather Channel; however, he is no longer affiliated with the company, having left the network in 1983.
The Weather Channel is an advocate for environmental efforts and has adopted a broader initiative called Forecast Earth, which focuses on educating the public about climate change and empowering people to make a difference. The Weather Channel has issued an official statement representing the company's position on climate change, which can be found here: http://www.weather.com/encyclopedia/global/index.html

It's interesting how he doesn't bother naming any of these scientific papers that resoundingly debunk all of these scientific theories. Perhaps he's worried that if he names them, people will check up and find out that they are actually conservative blog articles and political "think tank" publications, and not peer-reviewed "scientific papers" at all.

What if the scientific papers he read are real and show global warming is happening, but Mr. Coleman, with his Special Meteorologist's Sense(tm), has "seen" how they are bunk?
This is not a comment on GW as a whole, just on the "reasoning" behind this guy's assertion.
