Honestly, the only real presidential names in this races are Edwards, Thompson, and McCain. Obama rhymes with world enemy #1. There could only be President Hillary, not Clinton Mk. 2. Richardson has too much of a first name in it. Dodd is doddering. Giuliani is too ethnic. Romney is boring with no hint of any ancestry. Paul is also a first name, and so should be disqualified.

I must say, reading Right-Wing and Right-leaning forums and blogs, this has created hilarity.
That Presidential “R” in 2008 will stand for nothing I believe in. The guy is slick but doesn’t even look competent. And if Republican primary voters are that stupid, they deserve to lose next Fall. To pass over McCain, Thompson, Romney and Giuliani ONLY because someone’s slick and a Jesus Freak, which makes him your average televangelist – forget it.
Giuliani is the only candidate who will be competitive in states like New Jersey and PA. The GOP needs to break out of this Southern-Plains electoral box it has built for itself by pandering to the evangelicals. It is great to have religious people involved in party politics but they need to check their religious book at the door.
I'll enthusiastically vote for any GOP candidate but Huckabee. I'm sure I'd eventually vote for him over the Democratic candidate (I'm not that idealistic), but what a disappointment it will be. Mike Huckabee uses the same left-wing language complaining that Bush has a "bunkered down foreign policy", and talks about being able to tolerate Iran (presumably a nuclear Iran).
Apparently, the Religious Right is supposed to show up, pull the lever, and shut the fuck up. I'm ever so amused.

You've only hit the tip of the iceberg. DailyKos and Atrios at Eschaton are reporting that conservative bloggers would rather vote for Dems over Huck. Link1. Link2.

Huckabee may not be the champion of it, but he may be a sign that American politics is realigning. Social liberal/economic conservatives vs. social conservative economic liberals.

Kinda like the way the Dems have treated black voters over the years, and how they treat anti-war types today. The one group the Dems in Congress can actually work up the nerve to oppose is...

Liberal Democrats!

I think the way the Republitards turned on Huckabee shows that all the talk of "morality", guns, god, gays etc is all just the Plausible Diversion every con artist needs. Huckabee in unacceptable because his tax plan isn't a complete fisting of the poor, and he's not a total shill for things like NAFTA.

Pretty much. The big money conservatives, the war, war, WAR conservatives, and basically everyone but the Christian Right is up in arms. It's easy to see why. They are starting to see that years of exalting, uplifting, praising, and pandering to the religious rednecks might mean one of those filthy unwashed creatures might think he's due something.

Huckabee is #1 among South Carolina Republicans. What the fuck is wrong with that state?
They barely got around to taking anti-miscegenation laws off the books, they led succession movement, so-on-and-so-on. Its an armpit.

Shit, it was University of South Carolina students that were expelled after being shown on Borat claiming that slavery should be reinstituted.

Picking through the myrid of wodner responses, I found this one in Defence of Huckerbee:
Talk about ingratitude. Jesus picks a presidential candidate and the Satan Wing of the GOP starts a-writhing and a-steaming like Linda Blair after a healthy splash of Holy Water.

Let them burn in Hell, I say.

"Satan Wing"? That sounds like a lame arch-villain name for a B-movie about superheroes.

more huck news

it appears a dog lovers blog has found something:

Future first bundy

he covered up his son's torture and killing of a dog as part of a boy scouts thing.

I mean that description of what he did to the dog, is text book sexual sadist, pre serial killer behavior....

here is the Really Creepy thing about Huck... He actually Believes in all his bible stuff. IE he seems to actuaally think Helping the Poor, and saving the world is a GOOD thing, that spending money on social programs to help the needy is soemthing that *gasp* the government should do!

Seriouslly, Ive been reading some conservative blogs and they are all over how "Liberial" Huck is.

Yeah, I've noticed that around here. The people most likely to be Jesus Freaks are also the ones most likely to decry "liberal" (I fucking hate that that is an insult  ) spending bills that give needy people things like health care or education.

Case in point: under Clinton, new rules were put in place for welfare, I don't recall them off the top of my head all I remember is that they managed to make a significant dent in the number of people who needed welfare. Bush comes along? Those kind of rules don't line up with his rhetoric so we change them to emphasize "personal responsibility". You can guess what happens... :x
