Gonna have to disagree with you, Tev. As nice as my fellow West Virginians can be, the majority of them are willfully ignorant and a good number of them cause their own problems.

Clinton wins this battle, but one look at the average Clinton voter (low-income, uneducated, poor, elderly) should be a warning, not a victory. Those who can think, those who have that college education, who are the 'cream' of the crop, are my neighbors in Charleston, black and white, who've got the town quilted with Obama signs, and who've bolstered that 76thousand + early voting spree.

Of course, Charleston is one of the major urban centers of West Virginia, and it's certainly not where the majority of West Virginians live.

WV may go to Clinton... but it's not going to be the landslide she's hoping for. She's still lost the War.

Unfortunately and unlike the last time, our state chose the wrong side.

West Virginia became a separate state because the counties in the western part of what was then Virginia didn't want to secede and join the Confederacy and remained loyal to the Union.

WV became a state on June 20, 1863.

On topic, all signs point to Obama having an APPALACHIAN problem, not a white problem. He hasn't had problems with white, working class in Virgina, Wisconsin, Maine, Colorado, North Carolina or Minnesota etc. The states in which he's having problems with that is in the Appalachian states; Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky. In all those states that Appalacian counties went overwhelmingly for Clinton, and WV was so pronounced because EVERY county is an Appalachian county.

What's so special about poor, uneducated white people in Appalachia as opposed to the rest of the country is still an open question.
