Lanny Davis: Will superdelegates change their minds?
Former U.S. Senator John Edwards has now endorsed Barack Obama, but Hillary Clinton's staunchest supporters, like longtime friend and attorney Lanny Davis, say that West Virgina landslide victory has them all fired up -- and thinking about the end game.
Davis is not officially with the Clinton campaign, but he dropped by the Chronicle today, talking up how it might be possible for Hillary to still get over the issue of the math -- now that Obama surpasses Clinton not only in delegates, but now in superdelegates.
''There's only one direct and honest answer,'' he said. ''Superdelegates have to change their minds, because they view Obama as unelectable....and if Michigan and Florida are seated, less super delegates have to change their mind.''
Davis said women supporters of Clinton are even more resolute to make sure that happens after the West Virginia win Tuesday, because ''they're angry. They see this about men bullying her. Everybody has piled on.''
Some of the pile-on, he charged, has come from Obama supporters like Massachusetts U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, former Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern and West Virginia U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller, whom he called "the top four chutzpah'' contenders in politics today.
Davis on Richardson: ''Talk about hypocrisy...(as a presidential candidate) he got 3 percent of the vote, and his own state voted for Hillary Clinton.''
And Rockefeller? ''The santimonious hypocrite who voted for the war,'' then endorsed Obama citing his opposition to the Iraq war, Davis said. ''This is not just about a male double standard, it's about political double standard.''
Davis said Democrats, who are being portrayed as a ''liberal elite'' party by the GOP, need a reality check. ''Does Barack Obama have a problem?,'' he said. West Virginia proves ''rural voters, working class voters, white voters'' have not gathered behind him, he said, adding that it's been wrongly viewed as ''racist'' to make the point.
And Davis, a regular TV pundit, also has plenty to say about how the Clinton campaign has been covered. ''The media treatment of Hillary Clinton has been so biased, especially on cable TV,'' said Davis, who got into a recent live-on-air set-to with CNN's Anderson Cooper. ''I now regard Fox as the fairest network.''

Unfortunately, this is not a joke.

I'm so tired of the word "biased". It's such an easy attack. Any idiot can hurl this accusation at anyone else, knowing that it requires no evidence.

And this is one of Clinton's supporters? And Davis both supports Clinton and believes Fox-News is fair and balanced, this should have causes the universe to implode a long time ago.
Also, Is he a Republican or Democrat? We all know how Bill and Hillary were/are possibly going to be the most liberal Republican presidents.[/b]

Maybe the FCC should just make a regulation that makes it illegal for anyone on the air to make any claims as to bias of others or themselves. No more mentions of "liberal media," no more claims of being "fair and balanced."
Just teach everyone that all sources of news have their own agendas, and thus will always have some spin to put on any story.
