Edwards Endorses Obama

Well I wouldn't mind Richardson as a "strong" VP, a kind of cabinet president for Obama. He needs to be making decisions but he also needs the strong policy and bureaucratic experience. Also: Richardson was a long-time Clintonite, but he endorsed Obama. Extra points for helping bring back the Clintonists.

"Working-class white people" is a euphemism anyway. What they really mean is "white racists". Whenever you see "journos" talking about "working-class white people" with respect to the Democratic primaries, just replace it with "white racists", and it will be much more accurate. Hillary Clinton is appealing to white racists. Obama cannot win the white racist vote. If you want to win the white racists, you have to vote for Hillary Clinton. White racists dominated the West Virginia primary results. Etc.

I guess all those Washingtonians and the slated fucking DAKOTANS that are going to vote for Obama, the Iowans, on and on and on - what, are these people all rich? All black? This don't strike me as very rich, black states.

It's funny when you argue with Clinton supporters who say that the reverse is true: Obama has the racist support because blacks tend to vote for him. Yeah, I can't imagine any other reason why blacks would prefer not to vote for a woman who deliberately tries to appeal to the white racist vote, and has done so ever since Bill Clinton equated Obama's campaign to that of Jesse Jackson.

Good points, all, but I (personally) think that Richardson would do better as Secretary of State, where he can actually use his experience to better gain. VP is, for the most part, a figurehead; Dick Cheney being something of an aberration in his unprecedented amount of power. Richardson would easily do a great job as SecState.

While I think he would be of generally great service in the Senate I think Biden would actually make the best choice for SecState. He has all the experience you need to bring into a prospective cabinet. Moreover he has the connections and the intelligence to actually work with Obama's management style. Conversely he doesn't bring any real constituencies to the election (aside from the punditry) so I wouldn't want him as VP. Richardson, while havingmany of the same qualities, DOES bring a constituency and could certainly help an Obama brand (as Richardson easily fits into the post-racial theme of Obama's cadnidacy). If you have Richardson at state then I think you've got to bring in Sebelius both to cement women (she would be a much better female surrogate than Clinton) AND to brand the youth/change/bipartisanship angle.

That logic is just being used to scare white people and tug on the racist strings of people to vote for her because we all know how much reverse racism is damaging America and white people!
