I was aware of the McCain campaign's recent everything-but-the-kitchen sink response to Obama given when McCain couldn't recall how many houses he has, but this one caught my eye because of one detail:
(CNN) — John McCain’s campaign released its second tax ad of the week that calls Barack Obama a spendthrift celebrity who does not have to worry about a family budget.
The spot comes a day after McCain grabbed headlines for his inability to immediately recall how many homes he owns.
“Celebrities don’t have to worry about family budgets, but we sure do,” says the announcer in the 30-second spot. “We’re paying more for food and gas, making it harder to save for college, retirement.
“Obama’s solution? Higher taxes called ‘a recipe for economic disaster.’ He’s ready to raise your taxes, but not ready to lead.”
The new ad comes two days after a McCain radio spot that said “celebrities like to spend their millions. Barack Obama is no different. Only it's your money he wants to spend.”
The same day, Obama’s campaign released a spot that accused McCain of planning to give major tax breaks to oil companies, big corporations and “companies shipping jobs overseas” while giving millions of Americans “no tax relief at all.
Emphasis added, lol. "We"? Really? Who're they fooling?
Interesting they're going for the celebrity thing again, but absolutely predictable on the "OMG NEW TAXES!!!!!!" screeching.
And it's funny that when they're candidate is the one with numerous houses, several other land investments, and a private jet, they really want to go the route of talking about "celebrities like to spend their millions" referring to Obama.

Er, made the "there", "their", "they're" confusion mistake again. Sorry. I know that irks some people.

This, and the fact that McCain is so detached from conventional reality that he doesn't do his own groceries (or other things) but is surrounded by flunkies who do everything for him (to the point where he doesn't know how to use computers and such), will make him more endearing and relatable to the American Public.
Wasn't there recent news that McCain had overtaken Obama in the polls?

Seriously, that's all that most of today's Republicans will look at.
He and Larry Craig could be caught on tape tag-teaming the Vienna Boys' Choir and he'd still be a Godly Man who deserves their vote.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around! If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!! Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

One of the polls do (not sure which one, just heard it on MSNBC's Countdown), but the "poll of polls" at CNN still has Obama up by 2 points.
Worrying that the McCain negative attack ads seem to be doing the job. Better to have sound bites than to actually research, many people must think.

Actually, I think the problem with this is exactly the opposite.

I suppose it's like with the last election. McCain, the richer candidate, lambasts Obama for being rich and out of touch with normal concerns.
Last election it was Kerry, a decorated war hero, being criticised for his military record while Bush, at best, got an extremely cushy job through personal contacts.

Indeed.
That got me thinking though, the sweetest thing come November would be an Obama President-elect where he lost the popular vote a la Bush. I don't even know if it's possible due to the nature of population densities in typical red and blue states, but it'd still be hilarious.

Well, the layout as per Pollster.com, has 260 Electorals locked up for Obama, 191 locked up for McCain, and 87 Electorals in the tossup range.
It takes 270 to win it. Obama needs to net 11% of the tossup Electoral votes, McCain requires 90% of the tossups.
I like those odds, don't you?

If that's accurate, we're all set. I can't see McCain possibly getting 90% of the remaining electorals.

While it is true that the national popular vote has no relevance to the electoral vote total, it does indicate how solid a mandate the president-elect will have and how far the coattail effect may extend into the congressional races which are also up for decision.

This ad is internet-troll level stuff. Obama's tax plan would end up lowering taxes for most of the middle-class people who will feel it the hardest. And it comes after 8 years of one of the most financially irresponsible administrations ever -- a Republican administration.
