The Vice Presidential pick

Post by Gerald Tarrant »

Senator Obama is supposed to announce his VP choice tomorrow. Let's see what percentage of SDNer's get this right.

explanation:

"The field", a democrat not mentioned above.

"Rogue Republican", in 2004 Senator Kerry asked McCain to run as his Veep. There have been similar rumors of such an approach regarding former secretary of State Colin Powell, perhaps a similar disaffected Republican could fill the VP slot on Obama's ticket.

Personally, I went with Biden, his tenure on the foreign relations committee gives him some good experience.

It's gonna be Biden, though I'd rather it was someone with less of a mouth on him.

I can't think it would be Biden not in the least because he provides no real strength for Obama and does mroe to make it look like an obvious ploy to cover up any attacks from Republicans on "national security" which in turn would just lead to more Republican attacks geared towards "naitonal security." h yeah that and he stated flat out that it wasn't him. Clinton is a no-go for too many reasons to mention, though probably none that we haven't kicked around before. Bayh is now being declared as a no-go (along with Kaine). Reed may be a possibility and I'll admit I skipped him mostly on gut feel. Richardson would be my ideal choice but he's been far enough out of the cycle that I dont' think he is in consideration yet close enough to the cycle that I think if he were in consideration the name would be getting more play. Its just not gonna be a Republican, Dem registration is way up and independents are leaving the Republican party in droves yet anyone who would be notable amongst naitonal Republicans is still too inextricably tied to Bush for Obama to be able to carry on a full throated campaing accusing McCain of being Bush's third term. Given that I will take the field and stick with my hope that Sebelius or McCaskill has a shot.
