Ooops sorry - will be sure to add warning next time
A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. Leonard Nimoy.

Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.- Malcolm Reynolds, Captain of Serenity, which sums up my feelings regarding the lawsuit discussed here.

If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich. - John F. Kennedy

Don't worry. That was not targeted at just you, but generally. :)

No problem when I'm at home, but at work nearly all of my tools are browser based and if a linked PDF fucks things up, it can be a pain in the ass. Especially when some of the tools themselves may contribute to freezes. AS it happens, this time the link didn't even load.

Why is it so goddamned hard to get little assholes like you to admit it when you fuck up? Is it pride? What gives you the right to have any pride?

One may sidestep the PDF freeze issue altogether by using Foxit Reader instead of Adobe Bloatware. I believe if you do this, the browser will pass the PDF to Foxit externally, neatly dodging any possibility of a Browser Freeze™.

This is not an option at work where I can't install shit on the machine and where the problem is most acute.

If you use Firefox, LinkAlert may be a useful extension for you (it tells you if the link is a PDF) and PDF Download can override the Acrobat plugin.

EDIT: This assumes you can use FF at work, and that you can install extensions into your user directory.

Step 1: look at the link
Step 2: right-click, save as

Step 3: read it when the download is finished.

Works for me.
