France and it's riots are one example, another would be Germany until recently denying the children of guest workers/ immigrants citizenship at birth or the right to hold dual passports. The latter which is still in effect. Coupled with the rather inhospitable climate against "foreigners" this leads to few people handing in their original citizenship and apply for German citizenship as they're never sure of what might happen to them in the future. Thus you have the grandchildren of people who came to Germany in the 60s and they still can't even vote.Dartzap wrote:Can you give some examples of this? Another example is that you're constantly referred to as foreigner, it doesn't matter if you were born there, and your parents before you were born there as well, you're still just a foreigner and fully expected to leave sometime in the future. This starts in school and will follow you your entire life, even if you do apply for German citizenship and try to fully integrate into greater society. Your wacky name or dark hair is a constant reminder to everyone around you that you're just a foreigner, NOT a German.
Now these examples focus primarily on Germany, but I've heard similar things from "foreign" kids in countries like France, Denmark or Switzerland.
