Sarah Palin and Michael Vick

Post by Elfdart »

Lloyd Alter has an interesting article at The Huffington Post about Palin's fondness for the "sport" of shooting wolves from aircraft -which is against the law, except to "control" problem animals. Alaskan fucktards use this loophole to justify shooting large numbers of wolves in order to artificially increase the numbers of game animals like moose and caribou (so much for that "rugged individualism" bullshit) for Walter Mitty-type sport hunters to shoot.

Image

As Alter points out, Victor Davis Hanson, National Review's resident wanker-in-chief and president of the 300 fanclub finds this kind of thing oh-so manly -just like Gerard Butler's well-oiled pecs.

Somewhere in the federal pen, Michael Vick must be fuming. Like Palin, he's also a fan of killing and wounding canines for "sport" and in order to control them. Why no Victor Davis Hanson love letters for him?

My position on this is clear. People that do this do not deserve to live, and make me regret my opposition to the death penalty. it is cartoon villainy made manifest

And my utter contempt for McCain's VP nominee deepens. What's "sporting" about shooting a wolf--or anything else--from an airplane? I guess that they have been taken off the endangered species list for this sort of thing to happen, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea to start hunting them again.

What does it take to be a "problem" wolf in Alaska anyway? A problem predator generally means one that is attacking livestock or people. How much livestock herding goes on up in Alaska? Oddly enough when I go to the grocery store most of the meat products from Alaska are fish; I never see caribou or reindeer meat on the shelves, and I'm not sure what other livestock animals would do well up that far north.

The only animals you should shot from an airplane are that you can't get close enough to otherwise, preferably only those that you wish to tag for study.

Exceptions could be made for large animals that have killed people.

Otherwise, man, this bitch is really starting to piss me off

Considering Palin's cretinous nature, this is hardly surprising. It's particularly a shame when you consider that wolf populations are still recovering from human attempts at annihilating them.

Alaskans dont do livestock, except personal stuff like chickens, or waterfowl.

The wolf-killing is not for sport, it is to artificially increase populations of game animals so that hunters can get their jollies from another creature's pain (not all hunters are like this, but the ones that lobby for this, are by definition) what they basically want to do is kill off all the predators so they are obligated to hunt to keep the population in check themselves.

Fuckers.

Keep in mind, Alaska is the only state in the US that his significant, natural populations of wolves, and bears. They have been nearly or completely eradicated by the same mentality everywhere else.

It's not only barbarous, it's a waste of time. Game populations are affected more by habitat and the length of winter than by predators. Wiping out wolves and cougars in the lower 48 isn't the main reason deer populations have skyrocketed. It's all those clearings to make room for construction in the east, and all those artificially green lawns in the southwest. People wonder why deer and rabbits are grazing on golf courses or drinking out of sprinklers.

Doesn't the Old Testament have laws against torturing or even killing animals for no purpose? Hell, I thought one of the big seven rules for non-Hebrews to be considered righteous was that they could not torture animals. Considering what high esteem Palin holds the bible in, shouldn't she be doing more to stop this?

Oh yeah, she's not that kind of fundie... She's much more into the fire and brimstone and do-what-I-say kind of Christianity.

Maybe we can get that organization that dressed up in bloody dolphin costumes and protested outside the Japanese embassy to bring some attention to this issue. Ideally, with cute pictures of lovable wolf puppies.

Then she'd send the Alaska National Guard's Blackhawks out with rocket packs to strafe the Sea Shepherd boats, and you would have a massive Fox-news inspired TV blitz about Governor Palin's execution experience (err, executive experience!) in fighting a war on piracy in command of the ANG.

Overuses the word "brutal", but not bad.
Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things... their number is negligible and they are stupid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

They only say the word "brutal" twice in a one minute commercial. I wouldn't say that was overused.

Nice!

I mean, not exactly nice, but I'm glad there's an ad out there calling her out. Do we know where it ran?

Here's hoping that his political career goes down in flames and, hopefully, a hilarious gay sex scandal.
