It's interesting, but with someone like Palin, whose politics are so utterly opposed to mine, it's such a huge turnoff. Yes, she is moderately attractive, but her worldview and personality do nothing for me at all, so I can't even think about something like that. I find her quite repulsive that way. Were I to be somehow given the opportunity to spend a night with Palin, I can honestly say without thinking about it for 3 seconds that I would decline. She's just... <shudder>. No.

And I hate to attack someone for something they cannot control, but her voice is just, argh. 10 seconds of that is 10 seconds too much. That "folksy" stuff gets old very fast. I mean, winking at the audience? "Drill baby, drill?" "Joe six-pack"? "Gosh Darn"? It's hard to imagine that someone who is a candidate for vice president can talk like that, yet still be considered suitable for such a job (of course, see Bush). Yes, there are people that find that appealling, but I've never met them.

As to the thread; what the hell is with the 'I love Israel' mantra that they were both talking about for 7mins or so? Is this Florida coming into play or something? Honestly I must have not been paying attention to US Politics this much before where a key point in selling your Foreign Policy 'cred' was about saying 'I love Israel more than you!'.
It's sickening. George Washington would be spinning in his grave. Because I love posting it so much, and I don't understand why its not quoted in US politics anymore:-
George Washington wrote:nothing is more essential than that permanent, inveterate antipathies against particular nations, and passionate attachments for others, should be excluded; and that, in place of them, just and amicable feelings towards all should be cultivated. The nation which indulges towards another a habitual hatred or a habitual fondness is in some degree a slave. It is a slave to its animosity or to its affection, either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its duty and its interest. Antipathy in one nation against another disposes each more readily to offer insult and injury, to lay hold of slight causes of umbrage, and to be haughty and intractable, when accidental or trifling occasions of dispute occur. Hence, frequent collisions, obstinate, envenomed, and bloody contests. The nation, prompted by ill-will and resentment, sometimes impels to war the government, contrary to the best calculations of policy. The government sometimes participates in the national propensity, and adopts through passion what reason would reject; at other times it makes the animosity of the nation subservient to projects of hostility instigated by pride, ambition, and other sinister and pernicious motives. The peace often, sometimes perhaps the liberty, of nations, has been the victim.

So likewise, a passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest in cases where no real common interest exists, and infusing into one the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation in the quarrels and wars of the latter without adequate inducement or justification. It leads also to concessions to the favorite nation of privileges denied to others which is apt doubly to injure the nation making the concessions; by unnecessarily parting with what ought to have been retained, and by exciting jealousy, ill-will, and a disposition to retaliate, in the parties from whom equal privileges are withheld. And it gives to ambitious, corrupted, or deluded citizens (who devote themselves to the favorite nation), facility to betray or sacrifice the interests of their own country, without odium, sometimes even with popularity; gilding, with the appearances of a virtuous sense of obligation, a commendable deference for public opinion, or a laudable zeal for public good, the base or foolish compliances of ambition, corruption, or infatuation.

Just when you thought that all the celebrities had conspired to behave for a change and make it the slowest news day ever, Larry Flynt comes to the rescue. Never one to shy away from controversy, Flynt’s company HUSTLER, is currently in pre-production for a video featuring a Sarah Palin look-alike engaging in some rather unPalin-like activities.

According to HUSTLER promo, “Nailin Paylin” (genius) is a “naughty adventure to the wild side of that sexy Alaska governor,” with “girl-on-girl lovin’”, “nailing the Russians who come knocking on her back-door,” (double genius) and a young Palin being seduced by her college creationist professor who “will explain a ‘Big Bang’ theory even she can’t deny!”

Extra bonuses include a three-way hardcore sex scene starring Paylin, Hillary Clinton, and Condoleeza Rice as well as a Bill O’Reilly impersonator who gives periodic updates on political scandals.

The Palin look-alike in question is one Lisa Ann who could definitely pass for a younger, sluttier version of her. And even though it hasn’t even been made yet, we’re crossing our fingers that it’ll be ready in time for November, as they’ve promised.

Larry Flynt can show Rosario Dawson a thing or two about just want kind of movie gets voters interested in the elections.

aaaand, I just threw up in my mouth a little.

That aside, was anybody else surprised that Russia didn't get mentioned once during the debate?

Lisa Ann doesn't look a thing like Palin. Where's the stony facial creases and jutting, bloated, hideous cheekbones?

I wasn't but that's mostly because within the scope of the debate Russia is about 3rd or 4th on the list of foreign relations issues. When you have to hit every topic from Economics to Energy to Health Care before you get to Foreign Policy (and then you must hit Iraq and Afghanistan first) there is a pretty decent chance you can't get to Russia even in the context of the South Ossetia conflict. It was a coin flip between Iran or Russia and after that you were going to run out of time so I'm not at all suprised Russia didn't come up.

Much the better for Barbie. Spared her the embarrassment over "being able to see Russia out her window" as her foreign policy credential.

Such a question would be a push anyway, because both campaigns have the same response re: Russia. Biden was one of the most prominent backers for Georgia in the Senate, and the guy in charge of telling Palin what to think about the world abroad (Randy Scheunemann) is a paid lobbyist for Georgia. They'd both say we needed to get tough on Putin, and they'd both say they want Georgia and Ukraine in NATO.

Besides, Palin's never actually seen Russia from anywhere in Alaska herself anyway.

Like it matters whether she'd actually done it or not. Claiming that you have a unique perspective on Russia because you can see Chukotka from where you're standing is like saying you understand Great Britain because you saw the Channel Islands from the coast of France. That argument was totally idiotic in two separate ways; one, that they thought it made any sense, and two, that they thought anyone would take it seriously.

True, but pointing out that little fact would have likely gotten her to shut up about it if nothing else.

I think the only thing which will make her actually shut up about it is losing the election because when all you hvae is talking points things like reality are not allowed to intrude.
