It's a pity that the KMT the Taiwanese officers and volunteers of the IJA and IJN were allowed to go relatively unmolested for the most part. The Soviets rightly gave the Nazi collaborators the treatment they deserved exactly. Japan got off lightly for its crimes, and as a result intra Asian relations are pretty fucked up today still.

Chiang's softness to the collaborators probably came from his study in Japan, I bet. Where's the bloody NKVD when you need them?

And what do they deserve? Care for a rundown besides a rant? Of the 129 war criminals of Korea 14 got hanged. Of the 173 Taiwanese 26 got hanged. Doesn't seem that Korea is a good example. And Vlasov betrayed his country, while the Korean/Taiwanese volunteers betrayed, what, their ethnicity? Funny how I don't see any mentioning of the Takasago Volunteers in your rants.

And yet Ma so far has caused Taiwan to lose/waste hundreds of billions of dollars, refused to admit his faults, and actually considers a known failure during his mayor tenure a success and is proud of it. You do the math.

How is not pissing off China going to help Taiwan? To show that China can feed us with their contaminated food material?

I mean, even if an Iranian diplomat travel all the way to Israel with similar viewpoint, does it mean it is acceptable to knock down a diplomat?

It doesn't, did I say it was ok? But then in the beginning from your reaction it seemed like it was only Taiwan pissing off China in this incident and Zhang was free from any blame.

If that diplomat starts spitting it out and threatening Israel, he definitely won't be expecting a nice treatment from the people.

You might be thinking of the "Between the warring states, the diplomats shouldn't be killed." in this situtation, however, Zhang Ming-Qing was never a diplomat. Zhang was in Tainan as a visiting scholar who happened to be the vice-chairman of the Association for Relations Across the Strait, and who happened to spew out threats. Opposition was inevitable, violence was something that went out of control.
