Funny thing is that I was talking about dogs with a coworker who said that she (my niece) had a reputation for being 'picky' about the people she'd let a rescued dog go to.

Is that supposed to be a bad thing?

My niece runs a 'rescue' for large breed dogs (primarily rotts, but she does take other breeds and mutts).

The person I was talking with had no idea the person was my niece until I asked for a name and she told me who she was talking about.

No, but the person who said this has a rep for being 'picky' herself when it comes to potential dog owners.
