Strawman. No said anything about atheists being immune to domestic violence. The point is that Muslim militants have a well documented history of treating women as inferiors and using their dogma as justification. An atheist wife beating chauvinist is simply using his own skewed belief set.

What really disturbs me about the cleric is that he claims Muslims shouldn't hit their wives hard, or the force should be akin to that of a toothbrush, but the whole point about wife beating being despicable is that no man should ever feel like hitting a woman in the first place. He's saying "Oh, don't hit women very hard," when his message should be "Don't ever get to the point where you want to hit your wife."

You're full of shit. Not only are you committing an obvious fallacy of denying a correlation if it isn't a 100% black and white scenario, but you're pretending that religious justifications of violence are necessarily more "hypocritical" than any other religious belief.

I'm still waiting for the people who don't want daughters under China's one child program to start trading with the fundamentalist Mormons though.....

ok, that is just wrong.

Actually right now in areas with shortages of available females, rich Chinese men are buying North Korean women and poor men are...I don't want to say this but it's true...having their relatives arrange for them to marry other relatives, up to and including their own sisters in places where couples can have two children if the first is a girl so at least they have a wife.

I guess they're too poor to do what the South Korean men who can't get wives occasionally do, which is basically go over to Vietnam and get brides.

Same thing with Taiwanese getting Chinese brides.

I have also heard poor Chinese farmers also manage to get some North Korean wives. Usually those who fled the regime via China. Some aren't treated too bad, some are, but are too scared to run back to North Korea. Personally I think if they are already married to a Chinese citizen the government should give them amnesty, however I can't see that happening.

On another at least from what I have been told from relatives, Singapore gets a lot of Chinese immigrants, where there is always a story of a young mainland Chinese marrying an older Singaporean man which ends in divorce. So there are plenty of unattached Chinese women, most probably not enough though.
