Oppose civil rights? That's one part where they are consistence about. In regards to other political issues, their only politicial position is to oppose the Democrats in all form. The Republican party is a party of politicians, not a party of statesmen.

If you look at their record, the Repub position is to favor tax cuts over everything else.
Fiscal responsibility or social conservatism, it doesn't matter as long as they can lower tax rates for the wealthy.
IOW, they don't give a shit about anyone else or the country as a whole.

The real Repub position is 'tax cuts and damn the budget', and if anyone else gets in the way, run them over.

Going back to the OP, I don't know why you guys are so surprised. After all, one of the tenants of Christianity is that the sins of the fathers get passed on to their sons.

Remember, ever since Adam and Eve ate the apples and got kicked out of the garden, all of humanity has been guilty of that sin ever since. It don't matter if you lived your life never committing a single sin, you're still guilty as hell for the original sin... for some reason.

This is just taking that concept and reapplying it somewhere else.
