Of course not! Such accidents are quite common in Africa, why is it Mugabe's mistake that his adversaries are eaten by wild animals (the crocodile could have mistaken the bathtub for a swamp or something), or accidentally and brutally cut their own throats while shaving?

While it seems suspicious, it's quite a bit more subtle than Mugabe's goons' usual MO of finding a dissenter or loved one of a dissenter wherever they happen to be (in their home, on the street, trying to get some food) and beating the shit out of them right then and there, and then either "arresting" the person for more beatings in prison, or just threatening to do worse next time.

The four-year-old grandson of Zimbabwe's Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has drowned in a swimming pool at the family's home in Harare.

The death of the child, Sean, comes less than a month after Mr Tsvangirai's wife Susan died in a car crash.

The prime minister had been at a ministerial meeting in Victoria Falls at the time of the drowning, but left to be with his family.

He had only recently returned to work after mourning his wife's death.

Mr Tsvangirai was injured in the March crash that killed his wife of 31 years.

Sean Tsvangirai was the son of the prime minister's second son, Garikai, who lives in Canada but had been in Harare since his mother's death.

Ministers from Zimbabwe's power-sharing government had been meeting for a three-day bonding session in a luxury hotel in the resort of Victoria Falls.

The exercise was intended to help the former rivals trust each other and work together after years of division.

Mr Tsvangirai was sworn in on 13 February as part of a new power-sharing government with President Robert Mugabe.

The unity government is tasked with reversing years of economic decline in the country.

I think Mugabe might be more subtle with this one because he knows the Western press is watching his coalition government with Tsangvirai. He might hold out some hope of more foreign aid, or a reproachment with the rest of Africa, without having to share power long term. If he can do this and get Tsangvirai out of the picture, it'll be the best of both worlds for him. But like I said, this is my paranoia speaking.

We're still talking about a four year old. Not many kids that age know how to swim and it doesn't take that much water for them to drown. It is possible that Tsvangirai is just a very unlucky man in addition to being targeted by Mugabe.

We tend to see this all the time, especially in South Florida; if he lived in Canada (like the story said), then it strikes me as extremely plausible.
