That's something that the worthless people from WA have been saying.

There's only one problem with this.....They are fucking idiots. Between 2000 and 2010, for only 3 years they have paid more than they got back in taxes (thus "carried" the other states).

NSW and Victoria have paid their way since Federation. WA has been receiving assistance from NSW and Victoria only until relatively recently, when for the first time they got back less than they paid in taxes (2004/5). This money went to the ACT, Tasmania, SA and the Northern Territory. NSW and Victoria still pay their way.

It's unbelievable that after decades of assistance from NSW and Victoria that people from Western Australia complain about having to support the smaller states.

The hilarious thing is that mining shed 15% of its workforce during the GFC. It was retail spending that brought Australia out of recession (showing that the stimulus worked) and guess which states with large populations where responsible for this? (Hint: It's not Western Australia).
