Actually, i suspect that the difference won't be that big in this case. "I disapprove, therefore it should be illegal" is AFAIK quite typical thinking for american christians.

It is not typical for the entire American population, which is what Chocula's polls are from.

"42% of Americans in 1991 disapproved of interracial marriage" simply cannot be assume to translate into "42% of Americans in 1991 thought interracial marriage should be illegal."

Ok as a proponent of gay Marriage I actually wanted to bring this up again because I think it is a great example of how HUGE the divide on Gay marriage is by age. If you look at the people who support gay marriage the most, 18-29, if you extend those numbers out over the next 10 to 15 years, it means a vast amount of states that right now are "barely" 50/50 would go handily over to supporting gay marriage.

As long as there is not a study showing the people LOSE support for gay marriage as they grow older, it seems almost inevitable Gay Marriage will become more and more accepted and legalized.
