If the State Senator in question had advocated not honoring unreasonable requests, that would be something. The man in question ordered at least 5 entrees that I can count, and that's only counting the meat lover's pizza as one entree, when it could easily feed 2-4.

Dehumanizing someone makes it easier to kill them. Denying them "privileges" like a last meal, despite the long standing custom, is just one more way to make the condemned sub-human.

It's not as if they are actually fulfilling those last requests to the letter, in any case. It is up to the discretion of the prison's administrators as to what they feed the condemned. For simpler tastes, they usually serve the exact dinner request. For stuff like, say, filet mignon and lobster, they will serve the closest their kitchen has, like chop steak and fish sticks.
I have come to the conclusion that my subjective account of my motivation is largely mythical on almost all occasions. I don't know why I do things.
