Good News about: kidnapped children

I know it's been a while since I've done one of these, but I had trouble finding a suitably morbid topic. A British Columbia couple named Paul and Tammy Hebert woke up on September 7th to find their three year old son Kienan was missing. They issued a public appeal for their son to be returned, asking the kidnapper to simply leave their son someplace and walk away. Surprisingly, the kidnapper did so, and Kienan was released unharmed. was arrested by police a few days later. The parents met the kidnapper in police custody, and they say they have forgiven him for what he did. They still insist on jail time for the perpetrator, but only to ensure he doesn't commit such crimes again.

I'm not a parent, so I couldn't accurately predict how I'd feel if it were my kid, but I wonder if I could ever forgive someone who kidnapped my son or daughter. The fact that this couple was willing to do so led to me selecting this news bit.

This is indeed a good story. A pity more kidnappings don't end this way (both in terms of the abductee being returned alive and so quickly, and in terms of the victims being able to forgive the perpetrator while still recognizing the need to incarcerate him).
