Politicians are convinced not to read what they sign, paid not to worry, assured by a constant stream of lobbyists that everything will be just fine... all in order to ensure that they will collude in the banks' efforts to take all the money in the economy and sequester it in their own pockets.

Which they will. Many of them don't collude out of malice, they're not consciously planning to make sure banks get to steal all the money. But they still collude, because they have a certain malign indifference to whether or not the banks steal all the money.
