Quick poll of the office previously was all "no". Same with most of my friends (well educated, employed).
My concern is that Salmond will get a good amount of "yes"'s from people that don't know any better.
Recent polls usually suggest slightly more against than in favour of independence - roughly 40% of respondents for, 50% against, 10% undecided. However we need to remember that the referendum is currently expected to be sometime in 2014 and a lot could happen in that time.
I expect Salmond wants to delay the vote for as long as he can because he is counting on disgust at the Tory/LibDem evisceration of public services swaying the Scottish electorate against continued rule from Westminster, regardless of who is in power.
Excellent, the sooner all major nations can be atomised into impotent city-states, the sooner we can have soveriegn megacorporations and a glorious cyberpunk dystopia. We have those fools thinking they can be a Norwegien paradise of idle socialism floating on oil revenues, but in truth they will be the next Portugal. With the engineered destruction of the euro well in hand, there will be no bailouts for Scotland and hence they will be forced to dedicate all their land and labour for the construction of more ultra-exlusive golf resorts. Next, we break off Wales, bankrupt it and convert all the national parks into hunting estates. No need for you Americans to worry though, your federal government was so easy to buy off that there's little need for secession.
If Argentina was going on about the evil colonialism of the Falklands by the British/English, whatever, it's a bit rich considering a large majority of the Argentinian people are descended from European settlers.

The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

They're more mestizo than I thought. Most of the "male" side of their ancestry is European, but the "female" side is narrow-majority indigenous in terms of mitochondrial DNA.
