Since a personhood amendment is too much even for Mississippians, I don't think there is much of a chance of such a thing passing anywhere.

Don't most abortions take place before the woman is significantly showing?Ralin wrote:It doesn't seem likely, but like Duchess and Alyrium said, it's possible and they would tryAaron MkII wrote:Are police actually going to enforcement this. Like does it give a cop probable cause to stop any vehicle carrying a pregnant woman within a certain number of miles of the border. Will they even know about it?
I don't see how they would be able to know a pregnant woman is in a car before pulling her over, but they could notice if they pull her over for something else, and that's not exactly uncommon. Proving she's leaving the state for an abortion would be another can of worms, but like I said, better to nip the problem in the bud before these questions start getting answered.
On another point, what are the medical qualifications required to carry out an abortion? I was actually surprised to learn, reading this thread, that they are performed by non-gynecologists (AFAIK, over here the doctor performing the abortion is almost invariably a gynecologist, though I admit I'm no expert on the system).

Most of them do, but if you keep them ignorant enough a girl might not even realize she's pregnant until she starts showing it.eyl wrote:Don't most abortions take place before the woman is significantly showing?Ralin wrote:It doesn't seem likely, but like Duchess and Alyrium said, it's possible and they would tryAaron MkII wrote:Are police actually going to enforcement this. Plus like I said upthread, I'm guessing they'd also try to force doctors to report pregnancies.
