Thought this was interesting to post based on the fact that we are getting ready to have the 15th and 16th states approving same sex marriage

It is not the main them of the survey but if you look at 1968, around the same time as "Loving v Virginia," 20% of Americans disapproved of mixed race marriages, 73% disapproved of such marriages, and 8% (must be a rounding issue)

One other interesting thing to note is that no other minority have been targeted by voter initiatives as nearly as often as the LGBT community. That tactic has gone a long way to slowing down LGBT rights. There's even an upcoming one targeting trans students next year in California. It's absolutely despicable.

You know that there were attempts at US Constitutional in the early part of the 20th Century banning mixed race marriages.Pint0 Xtreme wrote:One other interesting thing to note is that no other minority have been targeted by voter initiatives as nearly as often as the LGBT community. I didn't say there weren't any voter initiatives aimed at other minorities. I said they didn't happen nearly as often as the ones targeting the LGBT demographic. And US constitutional amendments are not enacted on popular vote.Kitsune wrote:You know that there were attempts at US Constitutional in the early part of the 20th Century banning mixed race marriages.
