Sylvia Browne Dead -- World Famous Psychic Dies at 77
World famous psychic Sylvia Browne -- who appeared on all sorts of TV shows including "Montel" "Larry King Live" and "Unsolved Mysteries" -- has passed away .. TMZ has learned.
Browne specialized in psychic detective work, and attempted to help on several missing person cases ... with varying results.
Browne's son, Chris, tells TMZ ... Sylvia passed away this morning in San Jose, surrounded by family and friends. She was 77.
Browne most recently took heat after famously announcing that Amanda Berry had died after she went missing in 2003 ... because, as we all know now, she wasn't dead. Sylvia chalked up the misinformation as a simple mistake.
The following message was just posted on Sylvia's Facebook page, "Sylvia graduated today. She was surrounded by family and friends. What a legacy. She shared so much. We will carry on her knowledge with hypnosis and Journey of the Soul and her many books. What a great party they must be having on the Other Side. Bless everyone."

I wouldn't call her "world famous". Typical hyperbole by the US media. I only know the name because she is mentioned on Skeptic sites like JREF.

You are to young to know her well, she was most famous in the middle 70s to early 80s.
Also I'd not dance on her grave but seriously she was one of the worst of the "psychics" because every year she was proven wrong, even her earlier work which made her famous and raked in millions were a long string of failures.

It's not just about being too young. Overall american quack celebrities are really not something we in Europe hear about. We get the occasional story about a church that handles snakes or those guys that think Jesus burred golden slabs in America from Yahoo news. But that's it. It also causes interesting situations when watching shows like South Park where they mock everyone and everything. From time to time someone pops up and we all go ?

I just saw the clip where she kept insisting that a fireman who died in the World Trade Center was actually lost at sea. No shame, no guilt. What a horrible person.
