Two things that bothered me about that interpreter:
1) My experience with deaf interpreters is that people with light skin where a dark shirt and people with dark skin wear a light shirt, especially in crowd situations. This makes the interpreter's gestures more visible thanks to contrast. Note how this guy is dressed.
2) His face was so blank! In sign languages facial expressions are part of the whole, without them it's like speaking in a monotone.

ASL fluent, married to a CODA, parents-in-law all Deaf. While I know ASL, not South African sign, what was shown there is not American sign language, and doesn't have many of the key features of all sign languages in general. It could be SA sign, but I really really doubt it. The South African Deaf Federation agrees, and they'd certainly know SA sign.
