Careful. The wingnut brigade will flame you for trolling.
The Guardian is reporting that the soldier refused to advance with his unit and fight against his coreligionists. Needless to say that's a fairly strong suggestion that his actions might have been politically motivated.
It's not my place in life to make people happy. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to watch me slaughter cows you hold sacred. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to have your basic assumptions challenged. If you want bunnies in light, talk to someone else.

Strange, Enlightenment, that in the nine-odd hours since Mike has posted it no-one has flamed. Are you trying to incite something here?

That's quite interesting; the initial media reports here have been indicated that he was upset at not being sent forward.

Last I heard he had both admitted to doing it, and said it was because he opposed the war.

He should do the Danny Deever and hang by his neck until he is dead, dead, dead. I'm a reasonable guy, but that sort of betrayal is unconscionable.

He obviously didn't oppose killing, since he was quite prepared to do that. I like the way none of the newspeople will just say it was because he was a Muslim. Oops, can't say that! It's not politically correct! It was just a coincidence! Can't tip over that sacred cow, can we?
