George Michael is dead

Post by The Infidel »

Well, 2016 had been a very bad year for the good ones, and it seems to go out with a bang.

Singer George Michael has died aged 53, his publicist has said.
The star, who launched his career with Wham! in the 1980s and later continued his success as a solo performer, is said to have "passed away peacefully at home".
Thames Valley Police said South Central Ambulance Service attended a property in Goring in Oxfordshire at 13:42 GMT.
Police say there were no suspicious circumstances.
Michael, who was born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou in north London, sold more than 100m albums throughout a career spanning almost four decades.
Earlier this month it was announced that producer and songwriter Naughty Boy was working with Michael on a new album.
In a statement, the star's publicist said: "It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.
"The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage."
In 2011, Michael postponed a series of concerts after being taken to hospital for treatment for pneumonia.
After treatment in a Vienna hospital, he made a tearful appearance outside his London home and said it had been "touch and go" whether he lived.
Doctors were said to have performed a tracheotomy to keep his airways open and he was unconscious for some of his spell in hospital.

2016 strikes again - can we have a better year, please?

Man, that sucks- and on Christmas Day, too. At least this year has just one week to go- I have to wonder if this has been a particularly bad year or if it just seems that way.

May he rest in peace, and may those who knew him find some solace.

As to the 2016 thing, though, if its not in poor taste to say it...

Many good and great people die every year. Many of them die young, tragically, pointlessly. I don't see what makes this year's deaths any worse than any other year's deaths, or any less.

2016 is a horrendous year if you value democracy, multiculturalism, or progressivism. But that's politics. The reasons this year may be remembered as one of the most hideous of modern times have nothing to do with celebrities dying.

That's not to diminish the significance of those losses, or the pain that they cause. More just reflecting that every other year is just as bad. :(

I wonder if there was some underlaying (medical) problems he didn't want to make public that contributed to his death as 53 seems way too young for a relatively healthy (as far as I know) man to die.

He had some serious pneumonia a couple years back didn't he? Yes, 53 is not so old these days, but it's old enough that long-standing health problems start getting more serious and catch up with you.

He may have had some health issue he never made public.

I can't imagine his lifestyle helped; he was quite a heavy drinker, to the point of famously parking his sports car in a storefront and doing some time for DUI, and I'd be extremely surprised if alcohol was the only recreational chemical he indulged in.
There are hardly any excesses of the most crazed psychopath that cannot easily be duplicated by a normal kindly family man who just comes in to work every day and has a job to do.

Replace "ginger" with "n*gger," and suddenly it become a lot less funny, doesn't it?
