A neo-Nazi activist who plotted to murder a Labour politician in a sword attack is a convicted paedophile who was jailed last year for trying to groom two underage boys, it can be revealed today.
Jack Renshaw, who was a member of the far-right group, National Action, before it was outlawed, admitted hatching a plan to assassinate Rosie Cooper, the MP for West Lancashire, after he was arrested on suspicion of child sex offences last year.
The 23-year-old from Skelmersdale in Lancashire, told other members of the extremist group that he had been set up by the police and left wing campaigners who wanted to discredit him.
He then sought the group's permission to take revenge by murdering the MP...
He was convicted today/yesterday. Another one for your collection when you worry about left wing violence.

Nah, it's just legitimately difficult to get hold of a gun in this country (more so than it probably needs to be, really) so they have to use whatever they can get their hands on.

Its that much easier to get a sword than a gun in Britain?
Anyway, it still doesn't explain the sword attack by the homophobe in the MAGA hat I posted about a day or two back. That one was from the good old US of A.

it really really is much much easier to get a sword then a gun in the UK. Swords espcially, since they can't be carried hidden like knives, have a big market in the antiques trade, repro trade, martial arts groups, fencing groups, and inheritance.
I've got a kikuru somewhere from a great uncle in the gurkas, a few billhooks for coppicing, a foot long hunting knife I made in New Zealand. I used to live with someone who was in the medieval reanactment scene, who literally had a selection of true swords (and armour). Someone else in the house had a bunch of shitty wall hanger katanas and gamer memorbilia.
Plus that house had three chef knife sets too...

Swords and machetes are easy to come by.
So are chef knives, but they lack in reach, and are thus less desireable for such attacks.
But even if you were to ban them (good luck), a sword-like object can be reasonably easy made.
A piece of steel (long crowbar) costs you 10$. Less if you opt for a strip of mild steel (which wil not hold an edge as well, but since you are not facing people in armor, it will be good enough.)
Angle grinder and discs.... 20-30$ if you don't have one.
Some scrap wood and glue/tape, one deadly weapon made.
A minute's thought suggests that the very idea of this is stupid. A more detailed examination raises the possibility that it might be an answer to the question "how could the Germans win the war after the US gets involved?" - Captain Seafort, in a thread proposing a 1942 'D-Day' in Quiberon Bay

Also, £200 gets you a pretty good hunting crossbow plus spare strings, extra bolts, cocking rope etc. No ID checks other than proof you're over 18, no license or database, no questions asked. (Don't ask how I know this unless you're really sure you want to know the answer. Especially you, TRR.)

From what I've seen there's a higher proportion of Japanophiles in the Anglosphere right wing. So katana wankery is probably present (these aren't "katanas" though), but I could be wrong about all of that and these are just wannabe tough guys.
Seeing current events as they are is wrecking me emotionally. So I say 'farewell' to this forum. For anyone who wonders.

As I mentioned in the previous thread, nutty people commiting crimes with swords is a more common criminal fact pattern than you'd think. Doesn't necessarily have anything to do with politics, so much as sword crimes tend to be committed by person who are sensibility-deficient and politics is frequently associated with people losing what sensibility the have.

Americans like sharp edges as well as lead projectiles.
Also, people banned from getting guns in various jurisdictions can still get knives and swords.
Also - no background checks or licensing required.

Ghetto edit:
I should state for the record I don't consider Seafort to be alt-right either. The scouse political scene is a strange one, with establishment left wing and the mob entwined. Belfast and Cardiff are similar to Liverpool. But the assumption that the left wing holds more violence in the UK is false, and this is just another bit of that evidence.
