U.S. Marines briefly raised the Stars and Stripes flag over the new port
area of Umm Qasr on Friday after facing tougher than expected resistance
in and around the southern Iraq port. Some time later, Marines returned

Aside from Shep's calling the soldiers heros (not that I disagree), I don't see anything but facts throughout the thread. He's not glorifying war or the Coalition powers. He's just showing us some pretty pictures.

The bombs where almost certainly general purpose Mk84's converted to GBU-31 JDAM's. To the media every heavy bomb is now a bunker buster, but such is the wrong weapon for this target and wouldn't have left much of a crater.
