You see these things all the time on those "Real Police Stories" kinda shows, and you see them all the time in the video games and such. But are they really that widespread in infantry operations?
I was also looking for some specs on them. Different reports put the duration of the helplessness effect between 30 and 60 seconds. Are there any that last longer than this? Also, what is the blast radius of a standard military-issue flashbang?
(I know it's a bit of a downer to talk about flashbangs amidst all the RPG vs. Abrahm discussions... Kinda small potatoes. Just curious, though.)

The M84 stun grenade I believe is issued to squad leader (not sure on that). Its only got a 2 second fuse, and generally only useful in CQB, so blast-radius is generally not an issue.

They're just loud and bright indoors and cause disorientation if not just a distraction as a stick of troops comes throught the door and corners the room. Also, the preasure of it going off indoors will fuck up your hearing for a few minutes adding to the disorientation. As for blast radius? Well you have to be close and mitigating factors come into play like the size of the room, if you have windows, doors or other openings, and things of that nature.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red
