What the frell?!
I am watching Fox News right now, and they just had a feed from AbuDhabi TV on.
It was showing an image looking at a bridge with what looked like a firefight going on below.
Suddenly, the image kind of shook and jarred, panned up to the sky, and then fell to the ground, with the image sideways.
Was the cameraman whacked?

What was said immediately after the feed went?
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

The moron on Fox was trying to say that there was an Iraqi machinegun position under the camera and that the puffs of smoke and objects being tossed up in the sky were from a machinegun. While I don't doubt that the Iraqi's would put a machinegun position in the hotel that journalist are in, the scene was obviously incoming rounds that struck too low at first and then got adjusted up on to the camera.
Later on, the anchor corrected himself to this view and any reports on the reporter/cameraman were inconclusive. Meaning I don't know and neither did the anchor, if the cameraman made it. Al Jeheera reported that on of their guys bought it in the strike against their building but if that building and the one on the news was the same, I don't know.....

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

I've seen that. The Camera was knocked over but still running once it landed. The question would be was it even manned?

Yes, Fox is biased, but you'll likely find few who disagree with that. They were more "fair and balanced" before this war kicked off, but then they also seemed to be cheering for the war in which we now find ourselves. Even so, I like watching Fox News.Nathan F wrote:On a OT note:
While watching Fox just now, they went to a break, and, the anchor said, just before the break:
'Stay tuned, we have some insights on what might happen to Iraq after the war, and what the French might do to screw things up...'

Less tech errors than CNN, and they also have better looking female anchors.
One military advsior last night, in regard to the Al Jazeera incident said that some US troops are trained in what he called "antisniping techniques" and that this may have been the US engaging the Al-Jazaeera camera thinking it was a sniper scope. The guy said that anit-sniping techniques utilize technology that hunts the sniper's equipment (ie, scope, rifle, binoculars) instead of the sniper and the US troops obviously thought that the camera was a sniper scope and opened up on it.
As JEgs said, it was obvious that the first few rounds were too low and they were adjusted and the next fusillade was right on target.

Decent snipers generally have a spotter with binoculars of some sort close at hand to find targets for them, which makes things even more difficult.Stravo wrote:One military advsior last night, in regard to the Al Jazeera incident said that some US troops are trained in what he called "antisniping techniques" and that this may have been the US engaging the Al-Jazaeera camera thinking it was a sniper scope. If they were targeting the camera lens, then wouldn't the camera stop running? Generally, a camera is much bigger, and it would most likely cover up the area that would be being shot at. So, wouldn't the camera be damaged?Stravo wrote:One military advsior last night, in regard to the Al Jazeera incident said that some US troops are trained in what he called "antisniping techniques" and that this may have been the US engaging the Al-Jazaeera camera thinking it was a sniper scope.
