How Arabs view the fall of Baghdad

Post by jegs2 »

Read this article to see how Arabs outside Iraq feel about the fall of Baghdad. I must say that I am not surprised.

The Arab world dislikes us. Shocking.

They seem ambivilant about it. None of them really seemed to have liked Saddam, but they don't like us either. If the reconstruction doesn't turn out to be a total clusterfuck and maybe we sort out this Israel-Palestine mess, we might be able to change that.
An Arab who's thinking the same thing I am wrote:"It's like a movie. I can't believe what I'm seeing," said Adel, a lawyer in Beirut. "Why didn't he just give up to start with if this was all the resistance he could muster? Instead of wasting all those lives for nothing."

I think the one quote that most accurately sums up the Arab world's feelings is this one:
"How wonderful the world would be without Saddam and without Bush!"

The Kuwaitis seem to love us. And can you wonder why? Now they enjoy such modern marvels like clean running water in their homes whenever they want! And airconditioning! Christ, how can they live in the deserts without A/C? Its no wonder there are so many psychos in the middle east, no A/C.

Arabs seem to have some massive self-importance issue. They say "Conquer the infidels!" then whine when they get their asses handed to them for acting out. I swear, if there werent so many nice Arabs I'd just say nuke the entire middle east.

The Arabs that I know in the region all have mixed feelings about Saddam. They realize that he's a horrible guy, they're just not sure that it should be the WEST that decides which of the governments there should be perpetuated. Many of them have taken the phrase "My brother against my cousin, my cousin against a stranger" to heart regarding this issue.
