It's been Canadian policy since at least Diefenbaker not to have nuclear weapons. When exactly did this supposed sale take place?Ted wrote:Canada USED to have a slew of nukes, of course, the government sold them back to the US.
Should the US invade Canada?

Just try, you'd probably wipe the armies quickly, but once you get past the cities, to the suburbs, you be utterly decimated by westy folk wielding Australian Beer and Blue Heeler dogs. They'd be lost in the maze of half paved streets and tin sheds, the tune of Khe Sahn would be like a siren of death to any invader.Nathan F wrote:And Canada is part of the British Commonwealth. I saw a Canadian produced program that explained the "Canada doesn't have nukes" is a myth. Canada supposidly had nukes up until about the very early 80s. There were surface-to-air nukes stationed in Canada, who's purpose were to take out large formations of soviet bombers. These were given to Canada by the U.S., and then later returned. In addition, Canadian forces in europe (who for a time comprised 25% of Nato's European strike ability) had tactical nukes for their aircraft.
The same program I mentioned above said that although Canada didn't really buy the warheads (they bought the missiles), Canada was given the warheads. Although technically they were American property, they were loaned to Canada and under Canadian control. At some point in the early 80s (I believe, I saw this program at least five years ago), Canada returned them.Graeme Dice wrote: We had the missiles, yes, but Dief refused to buy the warheads to go with them.
