Iraq is no longer a threat to its neighbors. There is no longer any strategic value to having American troops in Saudi Arabia.

Which begs the question of why the United States Army, Europe, remains headquartered in the Federal Republic of Germany, with the demise of the Warsaw Treaty Organisation (read: Comintern 2.0) and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

The bases and infrastructure the US has in German remains quite useful. There's no point to having any heavy forces in the country, but the housing doesn’t exist in the states for them and the Army has better things to spend its money on.

Umm... Maybe because they're not Christian, and according to Bush, the USA is?

 :? :(
Yeah, but our fundies only hold telethons and whine in the media, plus do stupid things like "white-only" proms.

Their fundies beat civilians in the streets, regularly use torture against prisoners, and push schoolgirls back into burning schools to die because they don't have veils.

It's all a question of scale. Our fundies are better, or should I say more tolerable?, than their's.

That, and they have more oil, which mostly goes to Europe, so if we have it, we'll have a nice carrot to tangle in front of Paris and Brussels so they'll remain behaved.

American Conservatism is about the exercise of personal responsibility without state interference in the lives of the citizenry..... unless, of course, it involves using the bludgeon of state power to suppress things Conservatives do not like.
