North Korea: State Sponsored Opiate Smuggling?

Saw this on ABC and SBS news last night.

Testimony from two NK defectors in a House Sub-Committee in the US. Add to this the high-ranking official captured by Australian Federal Police aboard the freighter we stormed five weeks ago. NK is looking like its about to be butt-fucked for a whole new set of reasons.

ahh well, perhaps if the public realized the stupidity of being against the legality of drugs, and forcing opiates especially to be in the black market where quality is f*cked and people die because of the f*cked quality, isnt a good way to do things, then we wouldnt care.

I take it that you have lived a fairly sheltered life. I support the legalisation of some drugs, but have you had to step over OD'd people on the street? Has it reached such a point with you that when you see another dead OD that you just don't give a shit?

And when you find out that a certain nation thats already in the bad books has direct involvement in the smuggling of more than one tonne of heroin a WEEK then you tend to get angry.

weemando, have you ever realized that ODing happens because there is no quality control as to how many times/how much it has been cut before it gets to the user. ODing is a direct effect of forcing it into the black market because of uncertain purity.

We'll given the state of their economy and lack of anything better to do with their ships, I wouldn't be surprised if there government was in on this. They could make a fair among of money, at least relative to what a SCUD based economy brings in.

I was reading of reports in some news channels a while back that the embassies that were not closed down and were cutoff from any state support were into smuggling of all kinds of things, including drugs. Just to survive.

This doesn't surprise me at all.

I'm well aware of this, but the fact remains that Australia has a pretty significant heroin problem and we have managed in the past two months to catch the North Koreans with their hands in the cookie jar so to speak. Sure, they aren't the sole cause of it, but damnit they should they be ranking...

Heck, if I were Kim Dong Small, I'd grow the fuck out of drugs. Soft, ultra hardcore, everything in between. They need the money.

I'm sure the North is more then able to fail at that too.

Really though if they could grow drugs they might also be able to feed themselves. It's more likely there just hauling stuff from the golden triangle.

Well actually every farm has 10 hectares set aside for the express purpose of growing opium poppies.
