Power of a Stupid Argument

Post by Guardsman Bass »

The argument I am referring to is the continued harping of conservatives/isolationists to the "Sucking Noise when american jobs go south to Mexico for lower wages due to NAFTA" argument, used prominently by Ross Perot and Pat Buchanon. I thought that the majority of economists (and economic statistics) proved that this argument was nonsense, because it only took in the factor of lower wages- without taking in factors such as worker productivity, education levels required for jobs, the fact that there are jobs being created-i.e. there is no finite amount of employment.

Hell yes, man, another anti-protectionist, good to have you on board. The infamous "sucking noise" never happened, and the economic growth figures from the years when the U.S. trade deficit grew blows their arguments to hell (of couse, this doesn't stop them from using said arguments).

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.
