Is it going to the same place where they're putting the shuttle?

Travel fares might cost a bit, but the Smithsonian itself is free.

I'd like to get a look at that Ar 234 in the background myself.

I got to sit in the pilot's seat of the CAF's Fifi years ago. Had visions of mushroom clouds...
I'm looking forward to the day when they finish restoration on the Swoose, the only B-17C in existance.
I can ID the Ar 234 and Me 262 in the background, under plastic, but the rest of what's in that shot is beyond me......

Its really hard to tell. I think the yellow plane in the back left corner, might be a P-39 ?? Or maybe a P-59 ?Frank Hipper wrote:I got to sit in the pilot's seat of the CAF's Fifi years ago. Had visions of mushroom clouds...

Is the plane covering it, possibly a Tri-Motor?

I believe the concorde will also be displayed there.

She's a former target towing A/C, lowned to the Navy by the Air Force found at China Lake in 1971, so probably not.phongn wrote:Just curious, did Fifi get the 'silverplate' mod for nuclear delivery?Frank Hipper wrote:I got to sit in the pilot's seat of the CAF's Fifi years ago. They *HAVE* done the same with Bockscar. It is sitting in the AF museum now, and looks (well, externally anyways) like it is in perfect condition.Stormbringer wrote:Good to see the old girl restored. Trully a peice of history.
It is a shame that they haven't done the same with Boxcar. But then again the Air Force Museum is probably on a tighter budget.
