Discuss.Canada.com wrote:OTTAWA (CP) - The leaders of the Canadian Alliance and the Conservatives signed a merger deal Thursday that would see the two parties folded into a single entity in time for an anticipated spring election.
"The result is not only an agreement in principle, it is a principled agreement," Tory Leader Peter MacKay said in a statement.
The deal is "the union of our parties and the reunion of conservatives across Canada," the statement said.
Alliance Leader Stephen Harper called the agreement historic.
