We have laws that grant us such things (the US bill of Rights is essentially a carbon copy of early versions of those laws, which were already a hundred years old when the US "borrowed" them) and have no real need for a constitution because while a parliament could try to seriously curtail such things if they stepped too far there are measures to keep them in place (not least of which is the desire of members of the ruling party to continue their job past election time).Andrew J. wrote:England should really have a written constitution to guarantee freedom of the press, speech, the right to a fair trial, etc, I think.
