"God is on the side of justice and compassion. If we are just and compassionate, than He is with us. If we are not, then we stand against Him." Then segue into how President Bush's policies are neither just nor compassionate, and for all Bush's talk of faith, his administration's actions demonstrate remarkably little of it.

"This Administration is long on superficial signs of faith and short on that which truly pleases God! While this President fights to amend the constitution against gay marriage, millions of Americans must chose between health care and food!"

God damn, I should be a speechwriter.

Pretty good but are you quick enough to come up with that whwn somebody ambushes you with an unusual question that can have devastating consequences, if you can maybe you should enter politics.

Yeah, but let's face it; if you were blind-sided by an inredibly inappropriate question like that, you wouldn't come up with that speech on the spot. The only thought in your mind as you looked back at her would be "fuck you, bitch".

That's just one of the shittiest questions I've heard in a long time.

The only political crapfest I can think of that rivals this is in the 2000 election, when G.W. Bush said that "Jesus" was his favorite political figure from history. I heard that and I was offended, not just as an atheist, but also as an intellectually honest person. I don't see how someone can claim to have read the bible and still get the impression that Jesus was a political figure. The man went way out of his way to dodge political questions... remember the cryptic and meaningless "Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's, give unto God what is God's"?

This high level of christianity in American politics is highly irritating. And I just can't understand it...
Around here, people would look funny if the Chancellor ever said "May God bless you all" at the end of a speech.

Actually, I believe he said Jesus was his favorite philosopher in history.
