Take that, PETA!
Soy linked to male infertility and sexual dysfunction in male offspring when consumed by pregnant women. APL members rejoice!

And if that doesn't convince you: http://www.mercola.com/article/soy/
That's an anti-soy scare-page by a guy who calls himself the author of the "No-Grain Diet." Sounds like the guy has an agenda. Not only that, but elsewhere on his site he espouses "Thought Field Therapy".BoredShirtless wrote:And if that doesn't convince you: http://www.mercola.com/article/soy/

Honestly, soy is eaten in large quantities by the Japanese, and I don't exactly see them all falling over dead with these horrible problems. In fact, you might notice that the life expectancy is one of the highest in the world.

I'm taking this with a very large quantity of salt. Very large indeed.
And on the off-chance there is some truth to all that, why should anyone be rejoicing? Soy products are in practically everything.

Exactly, this worried me for a momenet until I realized something. I considered all the places in the world who make use of soy and soy-based products. None, to my knowledge are well known for low birth rates or infertility.Mayabird wrote:That's an anti-soy scare-page by a guy who calls himself the author of the "No-Grain Diet." One said that pregnant rats who were fed a chemical in soybeans had male offspring with ejaculation problems. It does not say exactly how much of this chemical the females were fed. The other was one of those vaguely worded "This may cause a problem" things similar to the "bread may cause cancer" and so on. Seeing as I've read articles claiming that practically everything "may cause cancer/infertility/etc." I want something a little bit more definate before changing my diet. Nothing in either seemed all that bothersome to me.Rogue 9 wrote:Okay, so much for the VI's evidence, but what about the OP?

You claim Mercola is a crackpot, yet you contradict his thoughts on soy. Either that's because you didn't read them, or you didn't understand them. Hint: he makes a distinction between the soy products consumed in Asian and Western countries.Mayabird wrote:That's an anti-soy scare-page by a guy who calls himself the author of the "No-Grain Diet." Right I didn't understand his claims that Asians didn't REALLY eat soy all those centuries and don't eat that much now.BoredShirtless wrote: You claim Mercola is a crackpot, yet you contradict his thoughts on soy. No, he's not a nut on soya. He's definately a nut on something MUCH stronger than that.

Re: Take that, PETA!
It is one thing to personally favor regular meats and dairy over soy, but to take joy in the fact that people may have been eating a possibly dangerous product is just plain sick.Rogue 9 wrote:Soy linked to male infertility and sexual dysfunction in male offspring when consumed by pregnant women. The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.
