Bad accident in finland 24 dead

Cnn.com This site says 23 but a more updated Sweduish one says 24. A tragic accident involving a bus and a lorry.

The president of Findland proclaimed a day of nationa grief.

I get really sad when stuff like this happens, my condolences.

That's sad. Sounds like it was a bunch of people out to enjoy some time off.

Mostly high school kids and a few university students. It's the worst road traffic accident in our history.

The truck driver lost control of his vehicle when the dry road surface turned icy in a turn in a low-lying stretch of the road, and the trailing section of the truck slid into the oncoming lane. The truck was filled with 800-kg rolls of paper that smashed into the bus and crushed the victims.

Just for 24 people? I feel compassion for them but has death of all causes besides natural become so rare there? It just seems a bit of an overreaction.

It's the the worst accident in 25 years and worst traffic accident in Finland ever.

24 people is a lot for a traffic accident, especially one involving only two vehicles- if 24 died in a two vehicle crash in North America it would still be big news.

My condolences go out to the families of all the victims.

one or two people dying isn't really newsworthy unless it was some brutal slaying. 25 people dying at once is front page material though. Papers tend to choose stories according to what will sell the most due to sensationalism rather than any kind of importance.
