Not surprising, really, just about every aerospace engineering firm has at least made proposals for possible designs of a mars vehicle.

That only recieves a footnote in the article, anyways. It's good that they're finally designing a replacement for the ~30 year old Soyuz, anyways (I think it's about 30, anyways, correct me if I'm mistaken).

The ISS isn't designed to do anything close to what a martian spaceship would have to accomplish. Most notably, it doesn't need to reach trasns-orbital velocity carrying food, oxygen, recreation, housing, etc. for a two year voyage.
