Well, judging from some of the more rabid fundies I'm in contact with, apparently the methodists have been thoroughly corrupted with the 'gay agenda'. One fundy in particular seems quite obsessed with it. Unfortunately, the dipshit in question is a rather heavy handed moderater at www . spiritfx . com / forum . Of course, being the offensive bastards that we are, a couple friends and I are testing the limits of his mod capabilities, because despite being a mod, he doesn't have the power to ban anyone.

Yes, Methodists are a better mixed bag than most I've seen. The Methodist church here is one of the more liberal ones in town---the pastor privately supports gay marriage, for instance. However, you need only to look at most other members of that church to find fundamentalists crawling all over the place. The high school sunday school teachers, for example, are all Jesus zombies who keep on using arguments after they've conceeded these same arguments, accept the Bible as true all through (but ignore any parts they disagree with), and believe in creationism. Most people seem to just blindly follow along with whatever rhetoric is being used at the moment.

I must say, it's much better than the local alternatives. The Bible Church seems to be trying to conquer the whole town through mildly cultlike indoctrination practices and getting members into various government committees, so things could be a lot worse. Long live the United Methodist Church! :?

No cause is so good that you can't find a few crazies following it. There will always be fundies, and they'll always be good for a laugh.
